The Obama Administration awarded  88.5 Million in homeless grants to more than 350 local housing and service programs in Illinois – U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced in July that the Obama Administration is awarding $88.5 million in grants to more than 350 local homeless agencies throughout Illinois. For the third quarter in 2009, Illinois ranked 10th among all states in foreclosure rate, an increase of 13.68 % from the second quarter, a rise of 30.29% from the same quarter last year. Nationally, it was the worse three month period in US history, with 937,840 homes receiving a foreclosure letter.
